Diverse learners' library guide: Your services at Haaga-Helia library

Loan period

Longer loan period for short loans

You get a longer loan period for short loans, 28 days (normally 14 days).

For this you will need a proof of your reading disability. You can get it from Haaga-Helia special needs teachers. It can also be a certificate written by a neuropsychologist or a doctor.

Present your certificate in the library. The staff will mark down in you customer information that you have the right to get the longer loan period for short loans. After that you will always get the longer loan period automatically when you borrow or renew books.

Reading aids

Finger focus highlighters and coloured overlays to borrow

A finger focus highlighter makes reading easier. It diminishes contrast between white paper and black text and reduces line skipping. Finger focus highlighters come in different colours. With a coloured overlay you can test which colour makes the contrast best for you and helps you with reading.

  • Borrow from Pasila campus library. You can also ask for them to be sent to other campuses.
  • These aids can be borrowed if you have the right to borrow course books for 28 days.

Noise-cancelling headphones to be used at the library

  • Haaga, Malmi and Pasila campus libraries have noise-cancelling headphones for use at the library. They can't be borrowed for use at home.
  • These headphones can be borrowed if you have the right to borrow course books for 28 days.
